Here are some of the best games of the last decade.

1.January 4th, 2006 Texas defeats USC 41-38
USC was supposed to easily beat Texas in the National Championship in 2006 and with 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter it looked like they would beat Texas. But the Longhorns wouldn't go away. With 19 seconds to go in the game, Texas was down 38-33. Texas QB Vince Young made a heroic play being chased out of the pocket and running in for the score. Texas ended up winning 41-38 coming back from a 31-23 deficit with late in the fourth quarter.

2.September 29th, 2007 Auburn defeats UF 20-17
Many Florida fans would like to forget this day in history. They were the defending National Champions and were considered unstoppable. But at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium that night, their opponents the Auburn Tigers walked in as underdogs and out as winners. Florida going in to the final minutes of the fourth quarter had all the momentum, coming back to tie it up 17-17 after losing 17-3 at the beginning of the fourth quarter. But Auburn came back down the field and in the final seconds kicked a 45 yard field goal to win it.

3.September 1 2007 App St defeats Michigan 33-32
This was provably the biggest upset in college football history. Appalachian State entered the Big House, full of excited and happy Michigan fans. But after the game, the Big House was full of heart broken and sad fans. Michigan was losing most of the game but came back and got it to 32-34 only down by two. But Michigan got the ball back got to the App State 27 and attempted a 37 yard field goal in the final seconds to win. Everyone expected it to go in but App State blocked it to win! Everyone was shocked. WOW!
These were the best games of the last decade.

The decade of the 2000's was a great decade for college football. Let's look back at the best of the last decade. Over the rest of Janurary, I will look at the best games, teams, and players. First let's look back at the best teams of the last decade.

1. 05 Texas team
This team was led by future NFL star Vince Young who led Texas to a huge upset at the National Title game against the powerful USC Trojans. This team went undefeated and in my book, is the best team of the last decade.

2. 01 Miami team
This team was packed with future NFL stars like Ed Reed, Andre Johnson,  Jeremy Shockey and Clinton Portis. This team won the 2001 National Championship and almost repeated the next year.

3. 04 Auburn team
This team was jipped out of a National Championship chance and ended up in the Sugar Bowl where they beat Virgina Tech and went undefeated. This team had future NFL stars like Tampa Bay HB Carnell "Cadillac" Williams, Dolphins HB Ronnie Brown and Redskins QB Jason Campbell. These were in my opinion the best teams of the decade.

January 6 was a huge night for not only for the college football universe, but Texas QB Colt McCoy as well. He had his final chance to shine after getting robbed from the BCS National Championship Game last year, and being runner up for the Heisman two years in a row. But after driving down the field on the second possession, McCoy who had been waiting for this moment for 5 years, injured his shoulder and would no return. Alabama took advantage. With a freshman QB playing for Texas, Alabama's defense took advantage and clobbered the Texas offense while the Alabama offense tacked on 37 points and won the game. The Alabama Crimson Tide had just won their first National Championship sense 1992. Although Alabama head coach showed no emotion, you could tell he was happy. After three short years in Tuscaloosa, he turned a program that was about to fall from greatness and turned it into to a powerhouse. Congrats Alabama. Your the 2009 national champs!

On the day before 2010, Houston was supposed to beat Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl easily. But that wasn't the case. Air Force who was making their third straight bowl appearance, would not back down in a bowl game that represented the Army the Navy and the Air Force which suited them perfectly. Even after the 1st half, it looked like Houston was way out of it, with Air Force leading 24-6. After that, Air Force just let time go by cruising to a 47-20 win with star RB Jerad Tew rushing for 173 yards and 2 TD's. The Air Force defense didn't leave alot of open receivers for Houston QB Case Keenum to pass to, only allowing 222 yards, 1 TD, and made him throw 6 interceptions. This just proves how overrated Houston is and how underrated Air Force is. Air Force is the non BCS team to watch. Congrats Air Force!

Arizona will sqaure off against Nebraska in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl. This bowl game shoul be on New Years day because this is one of the best bowl games out there. But it's not. Both teams are evenly matched with Nebraska's firey defense led by star DT Ndamukong Suh who has 212 total tackles and 4 interceptions and Arizona's pass attack offense led by star QB Nick Foles who has passsed for 2,495 and 19 TD's. Arizona is coming off a hudge win against rival USC and Nebraka is coming off a heartbraking loss to Texas in the Big 12 Championship game. Both teams were runner ups in their conference to. But they have differences. Nebraska has a storiedhistory of National Championships and conference titles while Arizona does not have a good history a until this year, was a push around in the Pac-10. Me and the rest of the staff lov this bowl and hope you wach on ESPN at 8:00. Enjoy this great bowl game!

Even though the Macco Las Vegas Bowl was on one of the windiest days of the year, it was still a great game. Oregon State was the first one to score on an Sean Canfield 1 yard rush. But after that, they wouldn't score till the fourth quarter ending a 30-0 scoring drought. Max Hall dominated the game by passing for 192 yards and 3 TD's. Their powerful halfback Harvy Unga did not break out any big runs but did power his way to 71 yards and 1 TD. Oregon State had no answer for the powerful BYU defense and ended up losing 42-20.

Last Tuesday Bobby Bowden made the decision to retire. After meeting with FSU president T.K. Wetherell Bowden had two choices. The choices were to retire from football or return as an assistant coach. Bowden decided to retire from college football after coaching three teams for 43 years. He is also second all-time in career wins. Many FSU fans were disappointed that Bobby Bowden retired. But I think that was a good decision. Bobby has been a very offensive minded coach this year but has lacked on the defensive side. Along with him longtime defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews retired. Bowden was just a little to old to be coaching. I am a big fan of Bobby Bowden but I think FSU's decision to ask him to retire was a good move. After FSU plays WVU in the Gator Bowl Jimbo Fisher will be named the FSU head coach. Jimbo Fisher already made fired some people and hired some people as head coach. He fired Running Back Coach Dexter Carter and Linebacker Coach Chuck Amano. Two people Bowden had hired himself and had done a great job. I hope that Bobby Bowden will be remembered as one of the greatest coaches of all time.

After beating rival opponents, Texas, Florida and Alabama all look to go to the National Championship. We know that the winner of the SEC championship game will go to the National Championship but what about Texas. After barley beating Texas A&M, Texas will have another tough task against Nebraska. If they lose, that opens doors for Cincy and TCU and Boise State. I think the Gators will win in triple overtime against Alabama and Texas will beat the Cornhuskers 21-20 in the last seconds. But for Mark Ingram, Tim Tebow and Colt Mcoy, this will be their final chance to impress the heisman voters before the award is given. This should be the best college football Saturday in more than a decade. So don't plan much for Saturday!

On friday night, Alabama and Auburn played for the Iron bowl, one of the most historic rivalries in the nation. Many people expected Alabama to dominate but the Crimson Tide didn't seal the win until Greg Mcelroy passed a 4 yard TD to Roy Upchurch to take the lead 26-21 with 1:24 left in the game. Auburn is a good team and was not respected and that opened the door for a upset. Both teams played a great game and deserve a pat on the back. Both have bright futures. Alabama should end up in the Sugar Bowl and Auburn shuold go to the Capital One Bowl. Nice game to both teams.

After beating Tulane on Saturday, UCF fans had alot of hope in their team. Despite probably losing the C-USA east to East Carolina or Southern Miss, UCF thinks they're better than any team in the C-USA. "After beating Houston, our guys have been playing like champs", said UCF head coach George O' Leary. "They feel great". UCF is going to make a bowl game, no doubt and next year could possibly be the out of conference team to go to a BCS bowl game. The future looks bright for UCF and even though they face a tough UAB team this week, they should win. GO KNIGHTS!
